AP configuration

The following are the steps for configuring the openwrt wireless access points.

Configuration Steps

  1. If unmodified install openwrt and wait for reboot
  2. Connect to the unconfigured AP using telnet (at IP address
  3. Set the password of the router using passwd
  4. Disable 6relayd /etc/init.d/6relayd disable
  5. Disable dnsmasq /etc/init.d/dnsmasq disable
  6. Disable telnet /etc/init.d/telnet disable
  7. Connect a cable from the guest or hackerspace vlans to the WAN port
  8. Update the package lists opkg update
  9. Remove the non enterprise WPA supporting wpa daemon opkg remove wpad-mini
  10. Install the enterprise WPA supporting wap daemon opkg install wpad
  11. Copy the administrator keys: cat > /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys
  12. Check the administrator keys are correct cat /etc/dropbear/authorized_keys
  13. Load the configuration with uci import
  14. Save the configuration with uci commit
  15. Reboot the router with reboot
